Former Ghana international Samuel Johnson has advised Kwadwo Asamoah to consider a move to Galatasary from Juventus.
Asamoah joined Juventus from Udinese in 2012 and played an instrumental part of Antonio Conte’s team in their march to back to back titles. However, the 29 year old has had a reduced role in Turin the last two years with niggling injuries limiting him to just 46 league appearances in the last 3 seasons, after making 92 league appearances in his first 3 seasons.
Asamoah is now a subject of interest from Turkish giants Galatasaray. Reports in Italy claim he has already agreed personal terms with the club while local media reports suggest his wife would have the final say on the move. And after 9 years in Italy, Sam Johnson wants Asamoah to accept a new challenge outside of the peninsula.
“Sometimes it’s good to fight for your position, it’s a manly thing to do,” Johnson, who also played for Gaziantepspor and Kayserispor in the Turkish topflight, told Goal.
“But for how long are you going to fight when you know what is going on there [Juve] is going to affect your form?
“Galatasaray are a big club and they play good football. Sometimes, these clubs are even bigger than the so-called big clubs in [mainstream]Europe but people don’t know much about them because of the comparatively little attention they receive.
“There are already bigger players there [in Turkey] than Asamoah. A lot of players have passed through Turkish football. Previously, there were even players who were playing in the Brazilian national team.
“Our own Stephen Appiah also played there. Let’s not think that the Turkish league is a small league.”
Asamoah has not played for the Black Stars for the past three years but hints of his return has been reported by the media.
