Afcon 2017: Stars beat Bunyodkor 2-0 in warm-up

The senior national team, Black Stars Tuesday beat Uzbekistani side FC Bunyodkor 2-0 in the first of their planned warm-up games ahead of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations.

Bunyodkor held their own and managed to keep the Black Stars at bay in the opening half of the encounter at the Sevens Stadium in Dubai.

A few tweaking of the starting line-up in the second half saw team captain Asamoah Gyan come off the bench to score with his first touch in the 67th minute.

Frank Acheampong, also a second half substitute, doubled the advantage for Ghana 8 minutes later.

Though yet to confirm, the Black Stars management body says it hopes to seal another run-out for the team before departing the UAE with a chartered flight to its group base, Port-Gentil in Gabon on January 13.

Ghana, four-time winners of the Nations Cup, are in Group D of the 2017 edition alongside Uganda, Mali and Egypt.
