Ayew scores maiden West Ham goal

Ghanaian international Andre Dede Ayew scored his first goal for West Ham United on Boxing Day and it was against former club Swansea City, whom he left for a record fee of £20.5m.

After bouncing back from an injury suffered in September, Ayew has struggled in transforming himself into his previously blistering form – where he managed to net 12 goals in 34 games on his debut season.

Andy Carroll received a cross from midfield and sent in a looping header towards Cheikhou Kouyate, who miscued his shot and fell on the path of Ayew who calmly tapped in for his debut and opening goal of the game. West Ham wennt on to win the game 4-1 with the other goals from Winston Reid, Michail Antonio and Andy Carroll with Fernando Llorente pulling one back for the home side.

The 27-year-old’s goal comes as a good news for soccer loving fans and a morale booster for the Ghanaian who looks set to help the Black Stars end their 34-year wait for an AFCON trophy after coming so close in 2010 and 2015.

Having already featured in four previous tournaments, the deputy captain will be bidding time for his fifth straight tournament and will be hoping things fall in their way and greeted with luck this time round.
