Head of Public Relations and Strategy at the Ghana Football Association (GFA)Neil Armstrong-Mortagbe, has dismissed recent speculation that GFA President Kurt Okraku might seek a third term, calling the claims “mere rumours” without any official basis.
In a recent interview on Connect 97.1 FM, Armstrong-Mortagbe urged the public to disregard any such claims unless an official statement is released, emphasizing that President Okraku has consistently reiterated his commitment to completing his mandate within the next three years.
“This three-term conversation is purely speculative and a rumour at this point,” Armstrong-Mortagbe stated.
“Until there is an official statement or tangible evidence supporting such claims, I advise everyone to treat it as a mere rumour.”
Okraku, who was elected in 2019 following a competitive race and re-elected unopposed in 2023, is currently in his second term.
The GFA statutes, introduced in 2019, restrict the Presidency to two terms.
Any potential for a third term would necessitate amendments to the existing regulations—a process that would require significant consensus within the Ghanaian football community.
According to Armstrong-Mortagbe, Okraku remains focused on fulfilling the promises he made to Ghana’s football ecosystem, with three years left to achieve his goals.
