Afcon 2025: Caf confirms 24 nations for continental showpiece as Ghana misses out

The Confederation of African Football(CAF) has officially confirmed the 24 nations set for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

Defending champions Cote d’Ivoire and record holders Egypt have all been named while Cameroon, Senegal, Tunisia and Algeria have booked their spots.

Botswana returns to the Afcon for the first time since 2012, while Comoros and Mozambique pick up from their experience in recent editions to qualify once again.

Missing in the 24-team list is Ghana who suffered eliminations in their last two editions to Mozambique(2023) and Comoros(2021).

The tournament kicks off in December 21, 2025 and ends January 18, 2026 in Morocco.
