Bibiani GoldStars were denied the opportunity to extend their lead in the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League standings after being held to a 0-0 draw by newcomers Young Apostles on Sunday.
The clash played at the Nana Abrefa Nketia VII Park in Wenchi saw the hosts record their fourth draw after ten games, while Gold Stars remain unbeaten in the top-flight.
In a thrilling encounter, both teams displayed resilience, but neither could find the back of the net. Gold Stars could not break down a stubborn Young Apostles defence despite dominating possession, while the visitors struggled to create clear-cut chances.
The draw leaves Gold Stars with 20 points, just one ahead of second-placed Nations FC, who will now feel more confident about closing the gap. Gold Stars will no doubt feel disappointed, as the result allows other title contenders to remain within striking distance.
Young Apostles, currently in 14th place with 10 points, will look to build on this performance as they head into their next fixture against defending champions FC Samartex. Gold Stars, meanwhile, will aim to return to winning ways when they face Medeama in their upcoming match.
