Defending champions FC Samartex saw their impressive unbeaten run come to an end as they were defeated 1-0 by visiting Young Apostles at the Nsenkyire Sports Arena in match-week 11 of the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League.
The loss marked the first time Samartex had been beaten since March 2024.
Young Apostles, who have been in transition after parting ways with their head coach Asare Bediako, found the breakthrough through Samuel Prempeh’s 48th-minute strike.
Despite a dominant first-half display from Samartex, who failed to break down the resilient Apostles’ defence, the visitors held firm after the break and managed to withstand waves of attacks.
The win marked a significant bounce-back for Young Apostles, who had been struggling in recent weeks. With the three points, Young Apostles moved up to 10th position on the league table, now sitting on 13 points.
Samartex, meanwhile, dropped to 6th place with 17 points and will look to bounce back when they travel to Basake Holy Stars for their next fixture.
Young Apostles will return home to Wenchi, where they are set to host Medeama in their next league encounter.
