Injuries hit Black Stars: Partey, Bukari, Paintsil out of Afcon 2025 qualifiers

Ghana will be without Thomas Partey for their upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025 qualifiers against Sudan, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has confirmed.

The Arsenal midfielder has been ruled out due to injury, coupled with an illness, and it has been decided that he should take a break after logging significant playing time this season.

Partey, the vice-captain of the Black Stars, will be a notable absence from the squad. In addition to Partey, attackers Joseph Paintsil, Osman Bukari, and Kingsley Schindler have also been ruled out due to injuries.

In response to the withdrawals, Ghana coach Otto Addo has called up Michael Baidoo, Abu Francis, Jonas Adjetey, and Ibrahim Sadiq to bolster the squad ahead of the double-header against Sudan.

Ghana will face Sudan on Thursday, 10 October, at the Accra Sports Stadium, with the return leg set for Tuesday, 15 October, in Libya.

The Black Stars will be aiming to secure vital points in their bid for qualification.
