Baba Yara Sports Stadium to be reopened following complete renovations – Ashanti Region NSA

Ashanti Regional Public Relations Officer of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Patience Adams has revealed that the Baba Yara Sports Stadium is poised to reopen after completing its renovation works.

The facility had been closed after the Confederation of African Football (CAF) deemed it unfit to host Category Three matches in September.

In an interview with Akoma FM, Adams confirmed that the stadium is now ready for football events.

“All work at the Baba Yara Stadium is completed and ready to host any football event. However, we are awaiting clearance from our masters in Accra.

“We ask all stakeholders especially the public for patience and also plead with them to help us in managing the facility with care whenever they use any object, be it chairs, washroom, etc at the stadium.”

The shutdown raised concerns that Ghana might have to play its home matches abroad, prompting the government to carry out emergency renovations at the Accra Sports Stadium to secure approval for upcoming games against Sudan.

Additionally, Asante Kotoko was forced to relocate their matches to the Obuasi Len Clay Sports Stadium during the renovation period.
