Afcon 2025Q: Otto Addo vows to fight for Ghana’s qualification despite setbacks

Ghana coach Otto Addo is position about the team’s chances of qualifying for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), despite a disappointing doubleheader against Sudan.

The Black Stars’ qualification hopes took a hit following a 0-0 draw in the first meeting and a 2-0 defeat in the second.

Ghana are now five points behind second-placed Sudan with two maches to end the qualifiers.

Speaking to the Ghana Football Association (GFA) media team after the matches, Otto Addo reflected on the team’s overall performance and stressed that the campaign is far from over.

“It’s not over yet. Mathematically, there’s still a chance, and we will do everything in our hands to keep this chance alive.

“When I reflect, it’s not just about this game, but also our general approach. You have to win your home games. The passion and discipline, both defensively and offensively, were there, but we just didn’t execute.

Addo continued: “We surely deserved to win against Angola, and also the last one against Sudan.”

Ghana plays Angola and Niger in the next round of qualifying games.
