Sudan coach, Kwesi Appiah, lamented Ghana’s recent loss to his team in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers as unfortunate.
The Falcons of Jediane secured a decisive 2-0 victory over the Black Stars on Tuesday afternoon at the Martyrs of February Stadium in Benghazi, Libya, marking the fourth round of the series.
Reflecting on the match, Appiah, who previously coached Ghana, expressed sympathy for his native country, acknowledging the strength of the Ghanaian team while noting the competitive nature of qualifying rounds where only one team can advance.
“It’s unfortunate for Ghana. Ghana has a good team but, unfortunately, only one of us can go through,” Appiah commented. “I’m happy we’ve been able to put a smile on Sudanese faces.”
Ghana currently occupies the third spot in Group F with two points from four games, facing the possibility of missing out on AFCON qualification for the first time in two decades. The Black Stars will return to action during the November international break for crucial matches against Niger and Angola, aiming to revive their qualifying campaign.
