2024/25: Hearts lose to Bibiani GoldStars, Dreams’ struggles continues after defeat at Young Apostles
Hearts of Oak endured their third defeat of the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season, narrowly losing 1-0 to leaders Bibiani GoldStars at the UG Stadium on Sunday.
Hearts, who had recovered from two early-season losses with a six-match unbeaten streak including four draws were halted on home turf.
The decisive goal came in the 69th minute from Samuel Attah Kumi, leaving Hearts unable to equalise after missing a crucial penalty. The defeat has raised pressure on head coach Aboubakar Ouattara, as frustrated fans left the stadium with growing concerns.
The win extends GoldStars’ lead at the top to three points, following Asante Kotoko’s 1-1 draw against Basake Holy Stars.
Kotoko initially took the lead in the 36th minute through Albert Amoah, but the hosts equalised, setting Kotoko on edge as they look to make up ground in their upcoming match against Legon Cities on Wednesday.
In other games, Nations FC grabbed a convincing 3-0 win over Vision FC in Abrankese.
Dreams FC’s struggles deepened with a 1-0 loss to Young Apostles.
Meanwhile, Heart of Lions broke their winless run with a victory over Nsoatreman.
Defending champions Medeama played to a 2-2 draw with Aduana, though the match was halted in stoppage time due to heavy rains.
