2024/25 GPL: Asante Kotoko go top after narrow victory over Accra Lions

Asante Kotoko secured a 1-0 win over Accra Lions to move to the top of the league table following a closely contested match at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium on Sunday.

Albert Amoah netted the decisive goal early in the second half, converting Dauda Saaka’s perfectly delivered out-swinging cross in the 48th minute.

Despite dominating much of the game and creating several scoring opportunities, Kotoko were unable to add to their lead.

The victory, however, marks their second consecutive win, highlighting their strong start to the season.

With this result, Kotoko are level on points with Bibiani Goldstars but edge ahead on goal difference.

Their next challenge comes against Legon Cities, where they’ll aim to extend their winning streak and maintain their position at the summit.

For Accra Lions, the defeat continues their poor run of form this season. They will look to reverse their fortunes in the upcoming clash against Berekum Chelsea.
