Accra Lions and Berekum Chelsea played out an intense 1-1 draw at the University of Ghana Stadium in match-week 6 of the Ghana Premier League on Saturday.
Chelsea talisman Stephen Amankona secured the leveller for the Bibires in an encounter that produced excitement and quality in both halves.
From the outset, both teams exhibited high energy and determination, creating several scoring chances in a tightly contested first half, which ended in a 0-0 stalemate.
Accra Lions broke the deadlock in the 58th minute when Salifu Apiiga’s perfectly delivered corner found captain Mohammed Ali, who expertly headed the ball into the net.
However, Berekum Chelsea responded swiftly just two minutes later.
After a free kick was cleared by Mohammed Ali, Stephen Amankona seized on the loose ball, skillfully creating space before unleashing a powerful shot past the goalkeeper to level the score at 1-1.
Following the draw, Accra Lions are set to host Young Apostles in match-week 7 at the University of Ghana Stadium.
Meanwhile, Berekum Chelsea will welcome Legon Cities to Golden City Park in their next match.
