Samartex coach Nurudeen Amadu talks Vision FC win, tough season and goal conversion problems

Samartex Head Coach Nurudeen Amadu addressed the media after their 2-1 victory over Vision FC on match-week four of the Ghana Premier League.

Michael Ephson left it deep in additional time for the Timber Giants after Isaac Afful’s 44th minute goal was cancelled by Gideon Offei inthe 71st minute.

It’s the second league game for Samartex due to their earlier involvement in continental football. The defending champions drew 2-2 with Dreams FC in their first clash.

For coach Nurudeen Amadu, defending the league crown will be tough but adds anything can happen in football.

“The game was tough for us because Vision is a new team in the league and they dont have much to lose against us who are defending champions of the league.

“If they had defeated us today, then that’s certainly big news. They have been doing well in their games, beating Accra Lions is a huge result and we needed to do extra to win this game.

Nurudeen Amadu continued: “We struggled in attack once again and it’s a problem for us but hopefully the guys will get there.

“Injuries Baba Musah and Mankuyeli means we are giving minutes to those who have not been featuring regularly.

“The positive part of this problem is that we are creating and we are working on conversion now.”

Samartex competed in the 2024/25 Caf Champions League, losing to Raja Casablanca in the last round before the group stage spots.
