Ghana defender Joseph Aidoo is now the African player with the most appearances for Spanish La Liga club Celta Vigo.
The 28-year-old achieved this milestone during Celta’s 3-1 victory over Real Valladolid, marking his 136th appearance for the Spanish La Liga club.
Aidoo, who joined Celta Vigo in 2019 for a reported fee of 8 million euros, has been a crucial figure in the team’s defence.
Out of his 131 appearances, he has started 110 matches, contributing three goals.

Aidoo’s performances have not only made him a key player for the club but also earned him an extended contract until 2026. He has also been capped 11 times by Ghana’s national team, the Black Stars, since his debut in 2019.
Furthermore, his recent injuries have kept him out of Ghana’s squad for the 2025 World Cup qualifiers and the Afcon qualifiers against Angola and Niger.
