I was in shock watching the Black Stars against Niger – Henry Asante Twum

The Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Henry Asante Twum, has expressed his dismay following the Black Stars’ performances in their recent Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Angola and Niger.

In the September fixtures, Ghana suffered a 1-0 defeat to Angola in Kumasi and followed up with a 1-1 draw against Niger.

Speaking in an interview with Akoma FM, Asante Twum shared his frustrations over the disappointing results.

“I am still in shock and cannot believe how poorly we performed. Our team looked ordinary, and the technical team agrees with the lacklustre display,” he stated.

He, however, dismissed claims that the players were not committed, attributing the poor showing to a bad day on the pitch.

“I don’t subscribe to the notion that the boys are not committed. We simply had a bad game, and there are many issues the coaches will need to address moving forward,” he added.

Looking ahead, the Black Stars are set to face Sudan in their next AFCON qualifier.

However, the venue remains undecided after the Confederation of African Football (CAF) banned the Baba Yara Sports Stadium from hosting Category 3 matches due to poor structures at the venue.
