FootyTransfers: Clifford Aboagye joins Libyan side Al Murooj SC

Ghanaian midfielder Clifford Aboagye has officially signed with Libyan club Al Murooj SC.

The former Club Tijuana player joins John Antwi as the other Ghanaian signing for the club ahead of the 2024/25 Libyan top-flight.

Aboagye has spent much of his football career in the Latin Americas, playing for Mexican clubs and is now returning to Africa.

The 29-year-old moved to Spain to begin his foreign career with Granada CF in 2013 and was moved to Mexican side Atlas FC in 2017 on loan, later securing a permanent transfer.

During his time in Mexico, he also played for Querétaro FC and Club Tijuana, building a reputation for his playmaking, vision, and technical ability.

On the international scene, Aboagye rose to prominence when he captained Ghana’s U20 national team to a bronze medal at the 2013 FIFA U20 World Cup in Turkey.

His standout performances in the tournament earned him the Bronze Ball, cementing his reputation as one of the most talented young midfielders at the time.

Al Murooj will compete in the Libya Premier League which kick-starts on October 2.
