Hearts of Oak coach, Aboubakar Ouattara, has addressed recent criticism surrounding his player selection since the start of the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League.
His comments followed Hearts’ first victory of the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season, a 2-0 win over Bechem United.
Ransford Mensah and Hamza Issah bagged the two goals for the Phobians in the crucial match-week 3 encounter against the Ahafo-based club.
Speaking during the post-game press conference, he acknowledged the supporters’ right to critique but urged for constructive feedback.
“I am a democrat. When you criticize me respectfully, I take it on board. Just as you have the freedom to voice your opinion, I have the freedom to select the players I believe are right for the team,” Ouattara stated.
“We’re working for the supporters, and I understand their frustrations. They can express their views, but please, no insults. What we need now is unity. If we stay together, I believe we can achieve a lot.”
The win lifts Hearts of Oak to 10th on the league table as they prepare to face Nations FC in their next fixture.
