Asante Kotoko secured a hard-fought 1-0 win over Karela United on match-week one of the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League at Nalerigu.
The Porcupines picked up from their good form from pre-season to earn a vital win on opening day at a ground they lost during the 2023/24 top-flight campaign.
Albert Amoah bagged the winner in the 37th minute, courtesy Peter Amidu’s cross from the left flank.
The game went into the break with the Ghanaian giants leading and in the second half, goalkeeper Mohammed Camara produced impressive saves to deny Karela’s ambition of restoring parity.
Karela will next travel to face Brekum Chelsea, while Asante Kotoko hosts Nsoatreman FC on match-week two.
