Minister for Youth and Sports, Hon. Mustapha Ussif has lauded Gold Fields Ghana for constructing the Tarkwa and Abosso Stadium.
The 10,000-seater capacity football arena will aid the sports growth for football clubs, both top flight and lower divisions in the Tarkwa Nsuaem Municipal Assembly.
“In 2019, Hon. George Mireku Duker invited me for the sod-cutting ceremeny of this beautiful edifice.
Speaking at the handing-over ceremony of the facility, Hon. Mustapha commended all involved parties in the progressive work achieved in Tarkwa.
“This stadium will provide the hub for the youth to develop their talent and help in building the socio- economic development in the Tarkwa community.
“I urge the National Sports Authority to cooperate with all stakeholders in managing this memorable structure for the citizens.
“The government commends Gold Fields Ghana for the good work and their contribution to sports in Tarkwa.”
2022/23 Ghana Premier League winners Medeama SC will use the Tarkwa and Abosso Stadium as their home venue for the upcoming 2024/25 football campaign.
