Thomas Partey shines as Arsenal defeat Lyon 2-0 in Emirates Cup

Arsenal concluded their pre-season campaign on a high note, securing a 2-0 victory over Lyon to win the Emirates Cup.

Ghana international Thomas Partey played a pivotal role in the win, demonstrating his value to the team with a commanding performance.

Partey, who has been at the centre of transfer speculation, started the match and remained on the pitch for 77 minutes, offering a solid presence in midfield.

His performance will be seen as a statement of intent as he looks to put a challenging 2023/24 season behind him, during which injuries hampered his contributions.

Meanwhile, Ernest Nuamah, Partey’s compatriot, came off the bench for Lyon in the 64th minute. Despite his efforts, the forward was unable to influence the outcome, as Arsenal held firm to claim the victory.

With the Emirates Cup in hand, Arsenal will now turn their focus to the upcoming Premier League season, where Partey will be eager to maintain his form and help the Gunners challenge for honours.
