Sports Minister Mustapha Ussif directs NSA to secure CAF license for upgraded T & A, UG Stadiums

The Minister for Youth and Sports, Mustapha Ussif, has directed the National Sports Authority (NSA) to collaborate with the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to secure CAF licenses for two recently upgraded sports stadiums in the country.

The facilities in question are the Tarkwa TNA Sports Stadium, which was recently inaugurated, and the University of Ghana Sports Stadium, which served as a venue for the 2023 African Games.

Speaking at the 30th Ghana Football Ordinary Congress, Ussif emphasized the importance of ensuring these upgraded stadiums meet CAF standards.

“I have directed the NSA to liaise with the GFA to obtain a license from CAF for the various sports stadia in Tarkwa and Legon, which have been upgraded,” he stated.

Ussif also highlighted that the future of Ghanaian football hinges not only on infrastructure but also on principles such as transparency, fairness, and overall development.

Meanwhile, concerns have arisen over the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi, where the Black Stars are scheduled to play Angola in their first 2025 AFCON qualifier next week.

Reports from Kumasi indicate that CAF is demanding an immediate assessment of the stadium’s playing surface, raising concerns that the match might have to be relocated outside Ghana.
