Southampton manager Russell Martin has confirmed that winger Kamaldeen Sulemana will be out of action for three to four weeks due to an injury sustained in a pre-season friendly against Oxford United.
Sulemana’s absence means he will miss the opening game of the Premier League season, adding to Southampton’s challenges in the wide areas.
Martin, speaking to the Daily Echo, stated, “Kamaldeen will be out for three weeks. Sekou should be back by Wednesday.”
The 22-year-old’s injury exacerbates the Saints’ existing issues on the wings, an area Martin has identified as a priority for reinforcement during the summer transfer window.
