IFK Göteborg snap up Ghanaian defender Rockson Yeboah

IFK Göteborg has completed the signing of Ghanaian centre-back Rockson Yeboah, the Swedish club announced on Thursday.

Yeboah, 20, joins from the Ghanaian academy Young African Promises FC, where he recently returned after a loan spell with Greek side AEK Athens.

The 190 cm tall defender has penned a multi-year deal with the Allsvenskan outfit.

“This is an incredible opportunity for me to represent such a well-known club as IFK Göteborg. I am really looking forward to moving to Gothenburg and meeting my new teammates,” Yeboah said.

The club’s sporting director, Ola Larsson, expressed confidence in the new signing, noting that Yeboah had been on the club’s radar for over a year.

“We have seen him in action both in Ghana and Greece. He’s a big, physical defender, yet quick on his feet. We’ve received positive references from various sources, and we believe he will fit in very well at IFK Göteborg,” Larsson said.

The process of securing a work permit for Yeboah is underway, and the club hopes to have him ready for action in the coming weeks.
