Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia promises six new stadia for Ghana’s newly Created Regions in 2024 NPP Manifesto

Ghana Vice President and New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has pledged to construct six new stadia in the country’s newly created regions if he is elected President in the 2024 elections.

Dr. Bawumia made this announcement during the launch of the NPP’s 2024 manifesto, held at Ghana Secondary Technical School (GSTS) in Takoradi on Sunday.

The regions set to benefit from this initiative are Bono East, Ahafo, Western North, Savannah, North East, and Oti. Each region will receive a stadium with a seating capacity of 5,000.

“We will build six 5,000-seater capacity stadia for the six new regions, and we will build a standard stadium for Sunyani because of their love of football and the many clubs in Sunyani,” Dr. Bawumia stated during the event.

In addition to the construction of these stadia, Dr. Bawumia outlined plans to boost grassroots sports development by establishing a Ghana Schools Sports Secretariat.

This initiative aims to create more opportunities for young people in sports and to collaborate with international bodies to position Ghana as a hub for emerging sports.

Ghana already has National stadia in Accra, Kumasi, Takoradi, Tamale and Cape Coast.
