Ashimeru’s late strike secures Anderlecht victory

Ghanaian midfielder Abdul Majeed Ashimeru scored his first goal of the season, propelling Anderlecht to a 1-0 win over Royal Antwerp in the Belgium Pro League.

Ashimeru, 26, made an immediate impact, finding the net just five minutes after coming on as a substitute for Mario Stroeykens in the 74th minute.

The Black Stars player, who was sidelined for much of last season due to injury, has had an impressive start to the current campaign, contributing to Anderlecht’s consecutive victories.

Ashimeru is set to return to international duty in September, joining the Black Stars for their crucial AFCON qualifiers against Angola and Sudan.
