Ghana and Chelsea legend Michael Essien has heaped praise on Spanish-Ghanaian forward Nico Williams following his impressive performance against England in the European Championship final.
Williams, who was named Man of the Match, delivered a standout display that played a crucial role in his team’s victory over the Three Lions.
“He was amazing, amazing. I mean as a young player, turning up in this big game, scoring for your country, I mean what more can I say? He has been fantastic,” Essien said in an interview with Sporty TV.
Williams’ achievement also places him in the history books as the second player of Ghanaian descent to win the European Championship, following in the footsteps of Marcel Desailly, who clinched the title with France in 2000.
