‘Amos Frimpong convinced me Kotoko is the right place’ – new keeper reveals

Asante Kotoko’s latest signing, Guinean goalkeeper Mohammed Camara, has revealed that former Kotoko captain Amos Frimpong played a crucial role in his decision to join the club.

Camara, 24, joined Kotoko on a two-year deal from Soar Academy, where he made 26 appearances last season.

The new signing is the tenth addition to Kotoko’s roster in the current transfer window.

Before making his decision, Camara sought the counsel of Amos Frimpong, a revered former Kotoko defender and captain who served the club for eight years before moving to play in Guinea. Frimpong has been instrumental in recommending talent from the Guinean league to Kotoko, including Ghanaian centre-back Joseph Ablorh from Hafia FC.

“Amos had a lot of very good things to say about the club; the supporters, the supportive environment, and the ambition to achieve success. This convinced me that Asante Kotoko is the right place for me to continue my career,” Camara said.

Head Coach Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum praised the influence of Frimpong and welcomed Camara’s addition to the team.

“Having him speak so positively about our club is a testament to the strong culture and unity we have here. We are happy and we believe with him, Frederick (Asare), and Fatao, we have a very solid goalkeeping group.”

Camara’s signing is part of a broader strategy to strengthen Kotoko’s squad.

The club has also secured nine other signings this transfer window, including strikers AbdoelKarem AbdoelRahman Yoouef Yagoub and Elvis Kyei Baffour, midfielder Emmanuel Antwi, center-backs Gilbani Samba and Joseph Ablorh, winger Dauda Saaka, left-backs Esmat Abdulhamid Mohamed and Patrick Asiedu, and striker Albert Amoah.
