Asante Kotoko parts ways with 11 players after 2023/24 season

Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko have mutually parted ways with eleven players after the 2023/24 season.

The club announced via their social media platforms, on Tuesday evening.

Some did join the Porcupines at the start of the season and have failed to live up to the expectation, hence the contract termination.

Kalo Ouattara who joined Berekum Chelsea after the 2022/23 season has been playing second fiddle to star man Steven Dese Mukwala.

Long-serving player and captain Ibrahim Danlad has also ended his stay with the Porcupines.

Other notable names are Augustine Agyapong, Georges Mfegue, and Isaac Oppong who have also been at the club for a while now.

The full list of players are:

Kalo Ouattara, Nicholas Osei Bonsu, Isaac Oppong, Augustine Agyapong, Nicholas Mensah, John Tedeku, Sherif Mohammed (Defender), George Mfegue, Serge Eric Zeze, Danlad Ibrahim, Moise Pouaty.

Head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum will be heading into the 2024/25 season with plans of winning the Ghana Premier League and the FA Cup.

That said, lots of signings will be made. The Porcupines signed over ten players at the start of the 2023/24 campaign.

Reports of player-coach rift marred Kotoko’s season in the crucial moments and Life Patron Otumfuo Osei Tutu II stepped in to instill unity.

The Reds moved from the relegation spots to finish sixth in the league and for Ogum, a bright and fresh start is expected for next season.
