Asante Kotoko will improve if the fans support the team with patience and focus – Karim Zito

Dreams FC coach Abdul Karim Zito has expressed his dissatisfaction on beating Asante Kotoko twice in the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League campaign.

After defeating the Reds in both rounds of the top-flight, the former Kotoko full-back feels discontent on the club’s recent performances in the top-flight but asserts that his job demands success, not favouritism.

Kotoko lost 1-0 at home to the Still believers in the first round and suffered a 2-0 defeat on Match-week 26 at the Dawu Theatre of Dreams.

The loss is Kotoko’s seventh defeat in their last nine games.

After triumphing against the Porcupines, Zito stated the desire for the win due to his professionalism and vast experience.

“I’m not too happy beating Kotoko but as a professional coach you have to, I have been hired and been paid by Dreams FC.

The team is struggling and the fans need their support. The way they hooted at them brought in the psychological point of coaching.”

Zito then called on the team’s supporters to back the team in this crucial times and that can change the fortunes of the club.

“I would plead with the supporters, now they should forget about the league and make peace with reality.

“The team is not in good shape so their shouting will not bring the results but patience and focus will rather improve the side.”

Kotoko with 33 points is 11th in the league standings, they host league leaders Sarmatex in match-week 27.

Dreams are in 14th position with 31 points and plays Great Olympics away from home in match-week 27.
