Partey makes injury return for Arsenal in Sheffield United drubbing

Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Teye Partey returned from injury after 138 days away from football to play in Arsenal’s 6-0 victory over Sheffield United.

The Monday night victory ensured Arsenal’s grip on the third spot and also tightened their pursuit for the English Premier League title.

The Gunners are just two points away from leaders, Liverpool who face Manchester City on Sunday, March 10.

Partey came on in the 65th minute as replacement for Italian midfielder Jorginho.

And Mikel Arteta hopes the Ghanaian midfielder remains fit for this crucial half of the top-flight season.

“Thomas is available now to play a certain amount of minutes and he needs to build that”.

“It was his first minutes after four months and like everybody you have to earn the right to play the minutes,” Arteta added.

Injuries to Partey has affected his playing time as he has only featured four times for the Gunners before Monday.
