March 22: Rivals Ghana and Nigeria set for friendly clash in Morocco

The Nigerian Football Federation has unveiled plans for an international friendly between the Nigeria men’s senior team and Ghana.

Scheduled for March 22 in Morocco, the match against the Black Stars marks one of two friendlies lined up for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations finalists.

This encounter holds significant weight as it signifies the first meeting between the two teams since Ghana secured a spot in the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, edging out Nigeria.

In previous friendly encounters, Nigeria has held a slight advantage over Ghana. Yet, past results will hold little sway as both teams vie for supremacy on the field.

Following their runner-up finish at the 34th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament in Ivory Coast, Nigeria aims to capitalize on their impressive performance and continue their upward trajectory.

Nigeria will also lock horns with Mali during the March international break.

Meanwhile, Ghana will face Uganda just four days after their encounter with the Super Eagles.
