Nigerian football star Victor Osimhen has been crowned the Africa’s 2023 Men’s Player of the Year in Marrakech, Morocco.
The Napoli and Super Eagles striker clinched the award beating from Egyptian winger Mohamed Salah and Achraf Hakimi of Morocco.

Osimhen’s success marks him as the first Nigerian to claim the African Golden Ball since Nwankwo Kanu in 1999.
Osimhen led Napoli to the Scudetto in the 2022/23 Serie A season, netting 26 goals in the process and qualifying Nigeria to the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

The lanky striker has been a top target for English clubs next summer and will be eager to make history on African soil during the 2023 Afcon in Cote D’Ivoire.
Nigeria are in the same group with the hosts, as well as Equatorial Guinea and Guinea Bissau.
