Debutantes Ampem Darkoa Ladies emerged triumphant with a 3-1 victory over Huracanes FC on Sunday night, securing their passage to the knockout stages of the 2023 Caf Women’s Champions League (WCL).
Following a challenging 3-0 defeat to AS Mande in their second group game, the Ghanaian champions showcased a remarkable turnaround in their third match, displaying a stellar performance to clinch three crucial points.

Young talent Tracy Twum played a pivotal role, netting twice, while Gnabekwan N-Yanyimaya ensured Nanamma’s qualification for the knockout round.
Christiana Essombe managed to pull one back for the Equatorial Guinea champions.
Twum capitalized on Ampem Darkoa’s dominance in the first half, finding the net in the 9th minute.
After the break, โNana Mmaโ strategically maintained their lead, with Twum securing another goal in the 72nd minute.
As the game approached its conclusion, Gnabekan added to the tally with an 88th-minute effort, while Essombe salvaged a consolation for Huracanes in the 92nd minute.
Ampem Darkoa, now with 6 points, join defending champions AS FAR of Morocco in progressing to the knockout stages from Group B.
In Group A, Mamelodi Sundowns and SC Casablanca have also secured spots in the semifinals, setting the stage for an exciting conclusion to the Caf Women’s Champions League group stage.
