VIDEO: Hearts of Oak pick point at GoldStars with late Issah strike

Hearts of Oak and Bibiani GoldStars shared the spoils in their 2023/24 betPawa Ghana Premier League matchweek 7 game at the Duns Park.

Two goals in the dying moments decided the exciting encounter as both sides strived for the win.

GoldStars after draws against Heart of Lions and Bofoakwa Tano, looked eager for the victory at home. The stalemate is their third in the last three games.

Same as their hosts, the Phobians also envisaged a truimph away after going three games without a win.

Their lineup featured Kashala Ramos, Salifu Ibrahim and Hamza Issah upfront.

GoldStars coach Micheal Osei kept faith in Appiah Maccarthy and Stephen Banahene to spearhead the midfield.

Despite having more of the decent chances in the first half, GoldStars were held to a stalemate.

After half time, Hearts came into the game but failed to make the few moments count and the hosts took over.

The Mining club had to wait till the 88th minute to break the deadlock. A delightful freekick from star man Appiah Maccarthy placed the game in the hands.

But they failed to maintain their lead as Hamza Issah made sure it slipped from their path, gifting Hearts a point with his 92nd minute effort.

Dennis Korsah’s free kick into the 18-yard box was not stopped by goalkeeper Yaw Osei who came out for the aerial dual and it fell to Issah.

In the 96th minute, Appiah Maccarthy was then sent off for a bookable offence.

Bibiani GoldStars’ Yakubu Haqq won the NASCO man of the match award.

Hearts will return to the Accra Sports Stadium on match-week eight for Medeama while GoldStars head to Karela United.
