Joseph Paintsil scores in Genk victory at Kortrijk

Ghanaian international Joseph Paintsil rediscovered his scoring touch as KRC Genk delivered a convincing 3-0 win over KV Kortrijk in the 2023/24 Belgian Jupiler Pro League on Sunday.

The 25-year-old forward, who had endured a three-game goal drought across all competitions, retained his starting position for the match-day 12 fixture, and he made sure to repay the faith bestowed upon him by head coach Wouter Vrancken in the second half.

Nigerian striker Tolu Arokodare initiated the scoring in the 56th minute, breaking the deadlock with a header for Genk.

The lead was then extended by Paintsil, who found the net in the 73rd minute. He was substituted just three minutes after securing his third goal of the league season, which also includes three assists in 12 appearances.

Defender Daniel Munoz sealed the 3-0 victory for Genk in the 79th minute, capping off a dominant performance.

In other Ghana-related news, young winger Christopher Bonsu Baah also gained valuable match minutes for Genk, coming off the bench to replace Gambian Alieu Fadera in the 60th minute.
