Haruna Iddrisu: Lack of telepathy key issue for Black Stars’ recent performances

Karela United owner, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, remains optimistic about the Black Stars’ prospects as they prepare for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon).

Despite some doubts among Ghanaians following the team’s recent uninspiring performances in friendlies against Mexico (2-0) and the USA (4-0), the lawmaker believes the core issue lies in the team’s lack of telepathy.

Hon. Iddrisu emphasized the importance of team dynamics, saying, “Part of the problem is getting the players to know each other and fostering teamwork while instilling the value of discipline. I am optimistic about the future of Ghana football,” he shared with 3Sports.

An active investor in Ghanaian football, particularly through his ownership of GPL side Karela United and Division One club Steadfast FC, Haruna Iddrisu urged the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to work diligently in the pursuit of national trophies.

He also congratulated Kurt Okraku and the newly elected executive council members of the GFA, stressing the significance of their role in inspiring the nation’s youth and ensuring that Ghana’s national teams return home with well-deserved laurels. “They should go for gold,” Iddrisu emphasized.

Ghana is gearing up for the 2026 Fifa World Cup qualifiers in November, with matches against Madagascar and Comoros on the horizon.
