2023/24 UECL: Joseph Paintsil inspires Genk win with goal and assist

Joseph Paintsil continued his fine form, notching his third goal in four appearances for KRC Genk in a 2023/24 Uefa Europa Conference League road victory on Thursday night.

In a thrilling display, Paintsil was at the heart of the action, both as a goal scorer and a provider in the opening 20 minutes, as the Belgian outfit secured their first win in the competition, defeating FK Čukarički.

The Ghanaian winger displayed his creative flair by setting up Bryan Heynen for Genk’s opener in the 10th minute, a crucial contribution that set the tone for the encounter.

Just moments later, Paintsil showcased his finishing ability, calmly converting from the penalty spot in the 20th minute – adding to his growing tally.

This goal marked Paintsil’s second in his last two outings for Genk across various competitions, signaling his resurgence in form.

Notably, this appearance was his comeback in the competition after serving a suspension that kept him out of the Fiorentina clash, making it even sweeter for both him and the club.

KRC Genk went on to claim a convincing 2-0 victory, with the home side unable to find the back of the net.
