RTU ready to play Hearts of Oak despite AshantiGold GPL injunction – Rafique Abdulai

Real Tamale United(RTU) Communications Director Rafique Abdulai says the club is ready to play the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League opener against Hearts of Oak on Friday despite the injunction application suit from Ashantigold SC.

The Obuasi-based outfit, led by lawyer Kwame Quayson, have served the Ghana Football Association (GFA) with an injunction notice.

However, the Ghana FA plans to kick off the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League with RTU and Hearts of Oak at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium as the opener.

For the Communications Chief Rafique Abdulai the league’s handlers have not communicated any halt and they will play Hearts.

“We as a club belong to the Ghana Football Association and we take instructions from the FA when it comes to their competitions,” he told Yfm Kumasi in an interview.

“The GFA has not communicated that we halt our preparations and per that, we will be playing at 6.30pm tomorrow against Hearts.

“If there’s any decision before 6.30am, the Ghana Football Association will inform all clubs and we will comply. But as it stands, we are ready to play.”

Both sides enjoyed a decent pre-season ahead of the league; RTU played five games, winning three and drawing two.

Hearts went unbeaten in their pre-season games.
