Black Queens coach Nora Häuptle expressed her satisfaction after witnessing her side’s remarkable performance in their 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifying campaign opener.
The Ghana women’s senior national team secured an impressive 7-0 first-leg victory away to Rwanda at Kigali Pelé Stadium on Wednesday.
The Black Queens netted three goals in the first half and added four more in the second, resulting in the win.
Goals from Doris Boaduwaa, Evelyn Badu, and Princella Adubea established a solid 3-0 lead for Ghana at the break.
The Black Queens continued their relentless pursuit of goals in the second half, with Alice Kusi, Evelyn adding another, and Achiaa Anasthesia contributing a brace to seal the comprehensive victory.

Coach Häuptle, reflecting on the match, highlighted the importance of both scoring goals and maintaining a clean sheet.
She stated, “We won 7-0. Of course, it is quite satisfying.
“It is not only about scoring so many goals. It is important we also kept our clean sheet.”
“It was not easy in the game during some circumstances, but a good team can always go through some bad circumstances. The girls like to play on Astroturf, so it was good for them.
“All in all, I am quite satisfied, but I still think there are little details to be worked on and need to adjust before our next game in Accra against Rwanda on Tuesday,” coach Nora Häuptle added.
With their impressive start in the 2024 Women’s Afcon qualifiers, the Black Queens are now looking ahead to the first-round reverse fixture against Rwanda, scheduled to be held at the Accra Sports Stadium on Tuesday, September 26.
This victory positions them favorably to progress to the second qualifying round once the formalities of the qualification process are concluded.
