VIDEO: Jordan Ayew assists as Palace battle Brentford to hard-fought draw

Jordan Ayew continued his influential form in the 2023/24 season, aiding Crystal Palace to secure a 1-1 draw away against Brentford in a fervent Premier League encounter on Saturday.

The 31-year-old striker extended his influence on Roy Hodgson’s side by notching his second assist of the campaign during the second half of the match, building on his initial contribution in the season-opening victory at Sheffield United.

At the Gtech Community Stadium, it was striker Kevin Schade who ignited the scoring with a spectacular strike that found the far corner, giving the Bees the lead in the 18th minute.

Although struggling to find a cutting edge, Crystal Palace persisted in their pursuit of parity.

And their efforts bore fruit in the 76th minute. Defender Joachim Anderson seized the opportunity, cleverly sliding the ball beneath the advancing Brentford goalkeeper following a deft one-two exchange with the dynamic Ayew. Watch the assist:

The game concluded with both teams locked at one-all, reflecting a lack of definitive breakthroughs despite their efforts.

Jordan Ayew, who performed at his peak, contributed significantly to Crystal Palace’s performance till the final whistle.

Within the Ghanaian contingent in the camp of the Eagles, Jeffrey Schlupp made his exit in the 71st minute, while emerging prospect Jeshurun Rak-Sakyi remained on the bench throughout the game.
