VIDEO: Anim Cudjoe scores a beauty as Dundee run riot in Scottish Championship kickoff

Ghanaian youngster Mathew Anim Cudjoe scored and provided an assist as Dundee United downed Arbroath 4-0 away on the opening night of the 2023/24 Scottish Championship season.

Fresh off a disappointing season which saw Dundee United’s demotion from the Premiership, the 19-year-old sensation pledged an exemplary performance to the club’s faithful fans. His aim was to aid the Tangerines’ swift return to the top division.

And true to his word, Anim Cudjoe kicked off their campaign with a bang on Friday night.

The match began with Glenn Middleton setting an exciting tempo, netting the first goal with a low strike just 11 minutes into the game.

The momentum continued with Anim Cudjoe’s clever shot in the 25th minute. A brilliant pass from new recruit Louis Moult set him up for success. With great poise, he glanced up and brilliantly lobbed the ball over the advancing Arbroath goalkeeper, Derek Gaston – marking his first goal for Dundee United.

Craig Sibbald piled on the pressure by adding a third goal in the 37th minute. As the first half neared its end, Anim Cudjoe delivered a slick reverse pass to Louis Moult, who drove a fierce shot into the net, making it an unassailable 4-0.

The second half saw no further goals, with Anim Cudjoe making way for substitution after 77 minutes on the pitch.
