‘The day I got married is the closest thing to my Kotoko return,’ says Prosper Ogum

Reinstated head coach for Asante Kotoko, Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum says the excitement he feels about his second tenure with the club is rivalled only by the sheer joy he felt on his wedding day.

Following the Porcupines’ disappointing performance in the 2022/23 season, the tactician cum psychologist has taken the reins once again.

Two seasons ago, Ogum guided the Porcupines Warriors to triumph in the Ghana Premier League (GPL) but later resigned due to rifts with the club’s then-top brass.

His return was ceremoniously marked at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on a bright Monday morning.

“I’m excited and overwhelmed about this opportunity” Ogum expressed. “Nothing else comes close, [save] probably the day I got married.”

He then outlined his ambitious vision for his second term with Kotoko.

“My [primary goal in the] first year is to put together a formidable team that can compete domestically and internationally.

“However, you can’t be at Kotoko and not think of bringing success,” he added with determination.

Speculation is now rife about potential new signings as the club gears up for the forthcoming season, while some existing players seem poised to bid adieu to the club.
