Leeds United pursue Joseph Paintsil with €10m bid

Leeds United have presented an offer of €10 million [£8.57 million] to secure the services of Ghanaian international Joseph Paintsil from KRC Genk.

The proposal put forward by the Whites consists of €8 million supplemented by €2 million in potential add-ons [£6.86 million plus £1.71 million].

This comprehensive package also includes a sell-on clause tailored for the Belgian side. However, Genk’s response to this bid from the Championship club is currently pending.

As per a report from The Athletic, Leeds are poised to explore alternate options if progress regarding this transfer does not materialize promptly.

In an intriguing subplot, Genk had initially engaged in discussions for a player swap with Southampton. This arrangement entailed Paintsil’s transfer to the Saints while former striker Paul Onuachu would move in the opposite direction. However, both Paintsil and Onuachu rejected the exchange.

As the narrative unfolds, Paintsil has explicitly communicated his desire to join the Elland Road outfit. Resolute in his inclination, personal terms for the 25-year-old are expected to pose no hindrance.

Intriguingly, an unnamed Saudi Arabian club has also emerged as a contender, expressing interest in securing the services of the former Tema Youth player.
