2023/24 Caf CL: Medeama edge Remo Stars 1-0 in first leg

Medeama SC emerged with a 1-0 lead after the first-leg clash against Nigerian opponents Remo Stars in the preliminary round of the 2023/24 Caf Champions League.

The Cape Coast Stadium played host to an intense and closely-contested match on Sunday, setting the stage for a thrilling return leg battle.

Demonstrating their determination right from the start, the Yellow and Mauves reaped the rewards in the 22nd minute. Jonathan Sowah showcased his precision by finding the target with an accurate strike, thereby granting his team a crucial lead.

Despite their control of the game, the Ghanaian champions couldn’t expand their advantage before the half-time whistle, with Remo Stars resiliently holding their ground and maintaining composure.

The second half ushered in a shift in dynamics as Remo Stars initiated offensive actions, testing Medeama’s defensive lines. However, the home side’s steadfast defense held strong, effectively neutralizing the Nigerian side’s quest to level the score.

As the minutes ticked away, Remo Stars intensified their attacks, gaining control of the final moments. Nevertheless, their efforts failed to breach Medeama’s fortified defense.

Attention now turns to the second leg of the encounter, set to unfold at Remo Stars Stadium in Nigeria’s Ogun State in the upcoming week.

Medeama aim to secure qualification to the next round of the Champions League, where the aggregate winner is slated to face off against formidable Guinean giants Horoya AC.
