2023/24 Caf CC: Dreams FC stage thrilling comeback, advance past Milo FC

Dreams FC showcased their resilience on Sunday as they overturned an early deficit to secure a thrilling 2-1 victory against Milo FC de Kankan in the second leg of their 2023/24 CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round encounter.

The intense battle unfolded at the Accra Sports Stadium, leaving the few ‘Still Believe’ fans in the stands on the edge of their seats.

Milo FC took an early lead in the 12th minute courtesy of a Seydouba Bangoura finish.

This advantage was steadfastly maintained by the visitors, maintaining a 1-0 lead as the halftime whistle echoed across the stadium.

Undeterred by the initial setback, Dreams FC relentlessly pressed forward, seeking opportunities to level the score.

The hosts’ efforts finally bore fruit in the dying moments of the game when substitute Agyenim Boateng Mensah confidently converted a penalty, restoring parity and injecting renewed energy into the contest.

The ultimate climax arrived in the 90th minute, as returning striker John Antwi etched his name into the match’s register.

With exquisite timing and precision, Antwi positioned himself adeptly at the near post, connecting flawlessly with a corner kick from Aziz to execute a textbook header that clinched Dreams a 2-1 victory, igniting wild jubilation among the hosts.

This exhilarating turnaround means Dreams FC secured their place in the second round of the Confederation Cup with a 3-2 aggregate score. The first leg in Conakry just a week ago ended in a 1-1 stalemate.

Dreams FC can now look forward to a showdown with FC Kallon from Sierra Leone in what promises to be another captivating home-and-away West African battle in the debutants’ continental campaign.
