Al Ahly agree transfer for Kotoko captain Richard Boadu

The deal is subject to successful medicals.

Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko have announced that they have signed a transfer agreement with Libyan side Al Ahly SC for Richard Boadu in exchange for a fee of around $150,000.

A club statement read:

“Asante Kotoko can confirm that it has reached an agreement with Libyan side Al Ahly SC for the transfer of midfielder and Club Captain, Richard Boadu, on a permanent deal subject to medicals.”

“The Club wishes to thank Richard Boadu for his contribution to the club’s recent successes and professionalism during his time with us and wishes him the very best for the future,” it added.

Boadu, 25, joined the Porcupine Warriors in September 2021 from Medeama SC.

The former Kotoko junior squad player was instrumental in the club winning the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League title in his debut season.

At the start of the 2022/23 campaign, Boadu was named club captain.

He appeared in 60 league games for Kotoko over the course of two seasons.

He tallied two goals, both of which came in his second season. In that campaign, Richard Boadu also had five assists and was named man-of-the-match eight times.

Asante Kotoko are currently preparing for the 2023/24 Ghana football season with returnee coach Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum in charge.

New signings will be made and sources say more players are expected to depart the club.
