The Northern Electricity Distribution Company (NEDCo) has disconnected electricity at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium today.
A statement from power company revealed the stadium owes electricity bills worth GHC466,000.
NEDco has asked the National Sports Authority, owners of the stadium, to make 70% payment of their debt for reconnection.
The Aliu Mahama Stadium has been the home venue of two clubs in the 2022/23 betPawa Ghana Premier League.
Real Tamale United and Tamale City have both enjoyed games under floodlights this season.
Furthermore, NEDCo says they owe national power generator, Volta River Authority(VRA), GHC1.6 billion and GRIDCO, the power transmitter over GHC480 million.
Aside the Ghana Premier League, the Women’s Super League and Division One competitions will also be affected by the disconnection.
