The pots for the 2023 U-23 African Cup of Nations draw have been confirmed and the Black Meteors are placed in Pot 1.
Ghana and Mali in Pot 1 await their opponents for the group stage draw and will likely face two of Gabon, Congo, Guinea, and Niger who are in Pot 2.
Also, the U-23 side expect to be in the same group with one of Morocco(host nation) and Egypt(title holders).
Black Meteors began their pursuit for a spot in the tourney by beating Mozambique 4-1 on aggregate.
Ghana then beat Algeria 2-1 after two games in the third and final round of the qualifiers.
Ibrahim Tanko’s lads hope to qualify for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris after missing out in 2020.
The date for the draw is yet to be announced by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
